Totality

Totality

Astrophotography isn’t my strength – but hey check this out! Special thanks to Mark Tomlin for letting me borrow his 400mm + 1.4 TC. We found a nice spot at Cave-in-rock, Illinois. Really special place and an amazing time with my family! You can see the star Regulus to the left in some of the shots. A couple you can see solar flares.

Tonight, the sky lit up. My eyes, my soul, my being is quenched in observance of this awesome site. Words cannot describe the majesty and glory of His design.

Light Show

Light Show

Last night, we had a wicked storm system rip through our area. I don’t recommend anyone try this at home, but I proceeded to stand out in an open area in the rain and lightning holding a large, metal camera. The lightning was incredible and provided a much better diversion than TV or an iDevice. I’m thankful for these moments. The sky is often a canvas for things even as powerful as lightning. Brings new meaning to the fear of The Lord.

The last few nights we have had amazing art in the sky, provided free of charge. Check these out.

A few more before 2015

A few more before 2015

Here are a few more photos to close out the year. The leaves were great this year. A short trip to Eagle Creek Park and a few epic sunsets. Now winter is here, which means lots of gray, cold and possibly a lot of snow. There’s beauty in winter and I look forward to capturing some of it! 🙂
